Items stolen, lost or damaged at U.S. airports

Thousands of claims are made each year for items lost, stolen or damaged at U.S. airports, yet the Department of Transportation says about 98 percent of items claimed lost are found and returned. Passengers at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, the No. 8 airport in the country for plane boardings in 2008, filed more than 2,000 claims from 2002-2008. Claims include luggage and clothing, cameras, computers, baby strollers, locks, lighters and money. Search this database to see what type of items are lost, damaged or stolen at U.S. airports.
